Thu Cuc International General Hospital

Wndy, 11 August 2020

I've been to several hospitals in Hanoi over the years, but visited Thu Cuc Hospital for the first time this month. You're given a translator as soon as you arrive and they help every step of the way, so it's really easy to communicate with the staff as well as understanding the recommendations and treatments prescribed. The hospital seems to be run quite efficiently, and everything was "western standard" clean. I saw both a Cuban doctor and a Vietnamese doctor; both did the appropriate exams and tests, and prescribed the recommended treatments (I'm a nurse and I actually do check this stuff before I blindly follow what I'm told by medical staff - something I've especially learned to do here in Vietnam). It seemed to be quite well-equipped, too. So, I'm impressed! Prices are less than in many of the private hospitals and I felt that I was treated very well. I'd definitely return to this hospital when the need for medical care arises again.

Everyone that works here is amazing. Their work is impeccable and their service is first class. You will walk out this dental clinic with a huge smile on your face, not because they're great at what they do, but because they'll make you feel great for who you are. The only thing better than their fair and reasonable prices is their outstanding customer service. I will recommend this business to every single person I know.Thank you so much... Blake Stroud, 21 March 2020

I had a crown fall out on my recent visit to Ho Chi Minh. I did a quick google search and found Dental Ucare. I stopped by the office the next day without an appointment and they were able to see me right away. On my first visit they made a mold of the tooth and told me it would be ready the following day, which I was really impressed by since in the US it takes about one week for the crown to be made. I returned the following day to have the crown installed and everything went smoothly at a fraction of the cost and time that it would take at home. Highly recommend!

What you need to know about Root Canal in Vietnam

    Root Canal Procedure

A root canal, also called endodontics, is a dental procedure to treat infection at the center of a tooth. It can repair or save a tooth that is infected or badly decayed instead of removing it. The term “root canal” comes from the act of cleaning the canal inside the tooth’s root.

What does a Root Canal Procedure Involve?

With dental advances and the help of local anesthetics, a root canal is not painful. During the procedure, your dentist removes the pulp and the nerve, then the bacteria are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned. The final step is sealing the inside of the tooth with a filling or crown.

How Long Should I Stay in Vietnam for a Root Canal Procedure?

A root canal is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, meaning you can leave the medical facility straight after the procedure. However, you need to stay in Vietnam for around 2 to 7 days, especially if your tooth has several roots that require more than 1 appointment.

MyMediTravel currently lists 15 facilities in Vietnam offering Root Canal procedures - see above for the complete list, along with estimated prices. The price of a Root Canal can vary according to each individual’s case and will be determined based on your medical profile and an in-person assessment with the specialist. What's the Recovery Time for Root Canal Procedures in Vietnam?

Your tooth may feel sensitive for a few days after a root canal. Over-the-counter painkillers will help you with any discomfort. You can go back to work and return to your normal routine the next day or as soon as you arrive in your home country.

What sort of Aftercare is Required for Root Canal Procedures in Vietnam?

After a root canal, you should avoid biting on hard foods for a few days. You also need to keep your teeth clean, limit sugary food, and give up smoking to avoid further root canal treatment.

What's the Success Rate of Root Canal Procedures in Vietnam?

The root canal procedure is almost always successful, with over 95% success rate. Many teeth fixed with this procedure can last for 10 years to a lifetime. The side effect of a root canal is tooth sensitivity, but this will subside within a few days. The risks include the loss of the tooth or abscess development on the tooth, but this is very rare.

Are there Alternatives to Root Canal Procedures in Vietnam?

If you are apprehensive about a root canal, your alternatives include tooth extraction and replacing it with a dental implant, bridge, or partial denture to restore your chewing function and prevent adjacent teeth from shifting.

What Should You Expect Before and After the Procedure

An infected or a badly decayed tooth is painful, and they can interfere with your life. After a root canal procedure, you will no longer feel any pain and you can enjoy your life again.
