Dr. Lara and his entire staff are the best. I reached out to several plastic surgeons and did my homework on their backgrounds, experience, etc. I decided to go with Dr. Lara because he had the highest ratings with a lot of experience. In addition, I worked with his Patient Coordinator, Itchtel. Her attentiveness and willingness to answer ALL of my questions let me know that they were the hospital for me. Dr. Lara called me to as well and that was a bonus (most of Dr.'s assistants call in my experience). When I arrived, I was met with kindness from everyone from the staff to the cardiologist to the anesthesiologist, to Dr. Lara. It's only day one, but I feel great, my body looks great even with the expected swelling and bruising. If I ever need anything again or get the chance to recommend a plastic surgeon, it will be him!

My wife had a broken Pinky and of course we didnt have any health insurance. After carefully looking over reviews online I got into contact with Dr. Ontiveros and he was able to provide us with details and how much it would cost us to fix her broken pinky. I have hated my lower eye bags for years. Now at age 59 I decided to do something about it. My cousin who is an RN and esthetician in the Bay Area recommended Dr. Juan Carlos Fuentes, who operates at a clinic in Tijuana, Mexico. Via a virtual consultation, whereby I sent him photographs and details of what I was seeking, he returned a price quote and details of the procedure he recommended, Transconjunctival Blepharoplasy. My assigned contact there, Yesenia, was knowledgeable and prompt getting back to me with answers to all my emailed questions. I decided to go ahead, and traveled to his lovely, state-of-the-art clinic, Cosmed, in Tijuana to first have the required lab tests done, and then returned 2 weeks later for the surgery. From start to finish he and his staff were professional and compassionate. The surgery lasted an hour, under local anesthesia with a sedative. I was discharged that day with stiches and surgical tape to keep them in place. I followed instructions, applied icepacks and took it very easy for a few days. I returned 5 days later to have the stitches removed, and was stunned by the dramatic improvement so soon after the procedure. The rapid healing and minor swelling and bruising I attribute to Dr. Fuentes’ masterful skills and long experience doing cosmetic surgery. I returned to work after 6 days and my coworkers were all amazed at the difference and how good I looked. Today is 8 days after, and I still can’t believe it when I look in the mirror. The whole experience and improvement far surpassed my expectations, and I heartily recommend Dr. Fuentes and Cosmed for any cosmetic surgery you may be considering. He partners with a few other surgeons at the clinic, who are also tops in their specialties. I saved thousands of dollars compared to what I’d have paid here in the US, and got a world-class result. I am so happy with the care and support that I received from all of the staff at Oasis of Hope. From the first day I made the decision to have my surgery to even now, the doctors and staff have taken great care to ensure my health and safety. I sincerely wish I knew the names of each and every one of the nurses, doctors, and staff that cared for me so I could personally thank them. I found communicating with the staff very easy, as most of them are fluent in English. I never had an issue with not being understood by staff, even the ones that were not fluent in English. Dr. Gonzales explained the procedure and asked if I had any questions. He really took the time to make sure I had a full understanding of what was being done. The hospital rooms are simple and unadorned with more than enough space to provide a comfortable stay. The shower has lots of hot water and fresh towels. Also, the room had a Lennox wall air conditioner that kept my room very comfortable. As for the hospital itself, it exudes an air of calm and peace. The only people that bustled about were the cleaning staff that cleaned everything in sight. Very Clean!! I walked around the day before my surgery and peeked into rooms with open doors. I found very modern-looking and new equipment. Nothing looked old or outdated. After my surgery, I always knew which doctor was in charge of my care and they can in the room to check on me. There was a doctor available to me 24/7 while I was at Oasis of Hope. All in all, I had a wonderful experience and can't wait to return for my body contouring surgery in a year!!

Super sweet and helpful doctor. My cousin recommended him. She has also had work done with him and her results are amazing. He took me in last minute after I had another doctor who kept rescheduling me, I went Dr. Ramirez. He has no idea how much this surgery meant to me. Thigh liposuction is a surgical procedure that uses a suction technique to remove fat from the thighs. It is done to eliminate stubborn fat and bring back a smooth contour to your thighs. The thighs are among the most common complaints for people seeking liposuction as it is notorious to be filled with excess fatty tissue. While a proper diet and regular exercise may help eliminate them, it is not uncommon for some stubborn fat to remain.
Just like liposuction done on other areas of the body, thigh liposuction can be done on both men and women as well. However, the procedure is more popular among women. Many women undergo thigh liposuction to visibly correct their appearance. The procedure can help slim and sculpt the area, creating a long slender look. As a result, clothes can fit better, and you can feel more confident. The thigh liposuction can also help women achieve the ‘thigh gap,’ which is considered a desirable feature.
Below are the areas on the thighs that can have liposuction:
- Outer thighs – many people have excessive deposits of fat on their outer thighs, known as saddlebags, which can be distressing for some people as it affects their appearance in various types of clothing like skinny jeans or pencil skirts. Not everyone is a good candidate for thigh liposuction. You may be a right candidate for the procedure if you have good skin elasticity and are at a healthy weight for your body type. Remember, this procedure is not a weight-loss procedure, and it is designed for people who already practice a healthy lifestyle but are having trouble eliminating fat deposits in their thighs.
If you are currently trying to lose weight or experience weight fluctuations, you may not be a suitable candidate for thigh liposuction. Most surgeons recommend that you are within 30% of your ideal weight before getting thigh liposuction. Thigh liposuction is not recommended for people who have any serious diseases or those who smoke.
The Procedure
Before the actual procedure, you are going to have an initial consultation with your surgeon to determine which part of your thigh will receive the most benefits from liposuction. During this initial consultation, your surgeon may also check if you are an ideal candidate for the procedure and give you instructions to prepare for the procedure. Your surgeon may ask you to sleep at least 8 hours before surgery, avoid spicy foods, stop smoking and drinking alcohol, drink plenty of water, and wash the treatment area with an antibacterial soap on the day of the surgery.
On the day of your liposuction, your surgeon will start by administering anesthesia. Most thigh liposuction only requires local anesthesia, which only numbs the thigh area, so you will stay awake but won’t feel anything. In some cases, however, general anesthesia is required. General anesthesia causes you to be unconscious and unaware of anything throughout the procedure. A certified anesthesiologist monitors the use of general anesthesia to ensure your safety.
Once you are comfortably anesthetized, your surgeon will start creating a series of small incisions, typically shorter than one inch. These incisions are placed at specific areas of the thighs. Strategic placement of each incision is necessary to make sure all fat deposits are accurately eliminated. The surgeon will mark the incision sites with a marker to plan out the surgery.
- For the outer thighs, the incisions are created near the hip bones and on the sides of the thighs.
- For the inner thighs, the incisions are made in the creases of the buttocks and near the groin.
- For the knees, the incisions are created inside and/or outside of the knees.
The incisions are only large enough for the surgical device to be used and are placed in well-hidden locations, so they result in virtually unnoticeable scars.
After creating the incisions, your surgeon will then begin the liposuction. There are several techniques to perform liposuction in this area, but in general, your surgeon will insert a cannula into the incisions to suction the fat. The cannula is connected to a vacuum that suctions fat and fluids from your body. Your surgeon may use a laser to liquefy the fat. This makes it much easier for your fat to be suctioned. Once the suctioning is done, your surgeon will close the incisions with sutures or surgical glue. The last step is covering the incisions with a bandage.
It is important to remember that the thigh area is prone to cellulite. In certain cases, liposuction may improve the cellulite, but a different procedure may need to be performed to fade their appearance in most cases. Thigh liposuction also does not entirely get rid of saggy skin, so discuss other removal options with your plastic surgeon if you want to address the problem as well.
How Long Should You Stay in Mexico?
You can usually leave the hospital on the same day of your thigh liposuction, immediately after the effects of anesthesia wear off. In some cases, you may need to stay in the hospital for a night, particularly if general anesthesia is used. Since you may need to attend a follow-up checkup and you may experience some discomfort, it is recommended that you stay in Mexico for around a week. Your surgeon will remove any stitches during the follow-up checkup.
How Long is the Recovery Time?
