The only quick and convenient way to travel within the Bahamas, particularly if you need to travel between islands, is by plane. In New Providence and Grand Bahama Island, the jitney is the most popular transport option. These are public buses that can hold up to 32 people and operate from 6.30 am to 7 pm each day. On the Out Islands, no public transport is available, so visitors can only rely on taxis or rental cars. Taxis are widely available around the Bahamas and are quick and easy. Water taxis and ferries are also available, but they can be time-consuming and expensive.
The Bahamas allows nationals of 120 countries, including Canada, China, Brazil, the US, Australia, the UK, Russia, and all EU countries, to visit and stay in the Bahamas for up to 3 months. Holders of passports issued by countries that are not listed in the visa exemption agreement are required to apply and obtain a visa prior to their arrival in the Bahamas.
The Bahamas enjoys a tropical climate, with a dry and wet season. The average temperature is the same in both seasons, ranging between 24°C and 29°C. From November to June is the dry season in the country. The season is generally pleasant and almost always sunny, which is why it is also the peak season. The wet season, from July to November, sees the most rainfall. However, it still has many sunny days and rain is usually short-lived. In fact, the Bahamas enjoys around 340 days of sunshine a year.
