Cyprus is an island in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, it is renowned for its history, mythology, ancient riches, sunny weather, and natural beauty. Today, Cyprus is an emerging medical tourism destination. Short waiting lists and competitive prices have put Cyprus at the top of the list of medical tourism destinations within the region. The medical centers in the country offer high-quality specialized care, with well-trained doctors and attentive staff on call day and night. In addition to the professional doctors and medical staff, the medical centers are also well-equipped with the most modern medical technology.
Larnaca, one of the largest cities in Cyprus, is famous among foreign visitors. It is mainly popular for its long and beautiful seafront, fringed by palm trees, taverns, and cafes. The most popular beaches are Mackenzie Beach, Finikoudes Beach, and Faros Beach. Besides its beaches, Larnaca is also popular for its historical monuments, such as Stavrovouni Monastery, Ayios Lazaros (the Church of Saint Lazarus, and Larnaca Medieval Castle. Paphos, an ancient port city in the western part of the country, is also frequented by tourists. Some of the attractions are Kato Paphos, Ktima (Old Town), and the harbor.
Flights to Cyprus arrive at one of the two international airports serving the country, Larnaca International Airport and Paphos International Airport. However, the main international airport is Larnaca International Airport, which serves flights to numerous international destinations, including London, Tel Aviv, Moscow, Amman, and Abu Dhabi. Although there are no domestic air service and train network, getting around Cyprus is quite easy. The south of Cyprus has a reliable and frequent intercity bus system. The buses are modern, usually on time, and have standard fares. However, bus services in the north are usually unreliable and rarely used by visitors since they do not seem to follow a timetable. Renting a car is a great way to get around and gives visitors more flexibility. Inside cities and towns, buses and taxis are widely available. Taxis are the easiest way to travel, but they are generally more expensive.
Holders of passports issued by all EU countries, Australia, the US, the UK, Canada, Japan, Iceland, and several other countries are allowed to visit and stay in Cyprus for up to 90 days without a visa. Citizens of other countries not listed in the visa-exempt agreement, such as China and India, are required to apply and obtain a visa before arriving in Cyprus. Make sure to consult the Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs to learn about the visa requirements.
Thanks to its location in the Mediterranean Sea, Cyprus enjoys over 300 days of sunshine every year. Summer, from mid-May to mid-October, is long, warm, dry, and generally pleasant. The temperatures during this season can soar to 35°C. In December, the winter starts, characterized by mild temperatures and a significant amount of rain. The average temperature in the winter hovers around 17°C. Autumn (from October to November) and spring (from March to May) are short, but both have pleasant weather.
