Israel is a small Middle Eastern country, located on the northeastern shore of the Red Sea and the southeastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. Home to sites sacred to Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, it is considered as part of the Holy Land, together with areas of Palestinian Territories, Jordan, and Egypt. In recent years, Israel has seen an increase in medical tourism as visitors from different countries seek to get treated at the major hospitals and clinics as they provide world-class treatment, with advanced technologies, highly skilled medical professionals, and attentive care. The medical industry boasts excellent results in the field of heart surgery, In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF), bone marrow transplants, and rehabilitation medicine.
Jerusalem is the largest city and is a holy city to Islam and Christianity and is considered to be the spiritual, cultural, and national center of the Jewish people. Known as the “City of Gold,” this city is fascinatingly unique and has one of the world’s most recognizable skylines, with the glittering globe of Haram Al-Sharif, Wailing Wall and Jewish Quarter, and Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The second-largest city in Israel is Tel Aviv, which is located on the Mediterranean coast. It is famous for its golden beaches, lively and modern metropolis, and fine examples of Bauhaus architecture. Some of the most famous attractions in the city are Gordon Beach, Banana Beach, Frishman Beach, Jaffa, Yemenite Quarter, Neve Tzedek Quarter, and Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
The main gateway for international visitors to Israel is the Ben Gurion Airport. There are domestic and international flights to and from numerous cities around the globe. In addition to major airlines, budget airlines also operate flights from this airport. Domestic flights are the quickest way to get around the country and tickets are reasonably priced. Buses and trains are also convenient. The best way to travel inside cities is by taxi, which can be hailed directly from the streets.
Holders of passports issued by 99 jurisdictions, including all EU countries, Singapore, the UK, and the US, can visit Israel without a visa for up to 3 months. Citizens of countries not listed in the visa exemption agreement need to apply for a visa beforehand. All visitors need to hold a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after the arrival date to Israel.
